The Mile End Community Mission is looking for Summer Students!

The Mile End Mission is looking for students to join our team for the summer! Interested applicants should send their CV and cover letter to general@mileendmission.org by June 11, 2021. Since funding is provided by Canada Summer Jobs, candidates must be Canadian citizens under the age of 30. Please also indicate for which of the following positions you are applying.

 

The Community Activities Animator will maintain an active presence in daily life at the Mission, with a focus on developing caring relationships with vulnerable members of our inter-generational programs, particularly those who have been most affected by the challenges related to COVID, their health and wellness. This will include providing regular outreach, info and referral, active listening, and support and follow-up. The candidate will also plan and carry out summer activities (in accordance with existing COVID-19 restrictions) and will collect all related participation statistics. In carrying out these tasks, the animator will ensure that health and safety protocols are respected. Working with a group of members on our leadership team, they will also provide support and guidance to the free meals and food bank programs. At the end of the summer, the animator will work with our members to develop an article for our fall Mission Possible newsletter, including stories and photos of our summer events. Strong interpersonal skills and an outgoing personality are essential. Candidates must be fully bilingual.

 

The Community Activities Support-Technician will maintain an active presence in daily life at the Mission, with a focus on technical (computer) and administrative support. This includes developing and formatting our Mission Possible newsletter, the dissemination of this major fundraising mail campaign, updating information and referral documents, assisting the Director in developing grant applications, and tracking program participation statistics. The candidate will also be tasked with updating signage and designing posters. Strong computer skills including Adobe Creative Suite are essential.

 

The Development Coordinator will maintain an active presence in daily life at the Mission, with a focus on helping to raise the profile of the Mission within the community & in doing so, helping to obtain additional needed financial & material resources. Tasks include assisting the Director in researching and preparing grant applications, representing the Mission at local community table meetings, developing and implementing strategies to increase awareness of our Food Bank and meals program, obtaining raffle prize donations for our fall Benefit Dinner, and writing articles for our website and Facebook account. The candidate will also assist the team in translating documents from English to French, and will help with our food programs. Strong interpersonal skills are essential. Candidates must be bilingual.
