Brayand and Lise have been in Montreal for only a few months, but have made a big impact so far at the Mission! The pair has offered free haircutting/ barber sessions for our members, hosted in our community centre. Brayand, originally from Costa Rica, found a passion for barbering when he moved to British Columbia and met Lise, a globe-trotter and hairstylist. When they moved to Montreal, Brayand wanted to get involved in the community, and began volunteering at the Mission. Brayand was attending barber school at the same time, so it wasn’t long before he got the idea for giving free haircuts at the Mission, with the help of Lise. The two have held two sessions until now, where members walk out with fresh cuts and big smiles. The Mission aims to serve beyond just the primary needs of marginalized individuals, and free haircuts for members is another avenue in which we can do so.
