We received a pleasant surprise at the Mile End Mission today: a long-time supporter walked in with a generous donation. He explained that he and his friend had lunch at Marathon Souvlaki near the Décarie boulevard yesterday. When they asked for their bill the owner informed them that a ‘prominent Montrealer’ had paid their bill (and everyone else’s) and had an inspiring message for them: “it’s my treat! be nice to a stranger. pay it forward!” His daughters immediately thought of the Mile End Community Mission, where they have volunteered for many years putting together Christmas baskets for families in need. We are deeply touched by this act of kindness. We would like to thank our friend, who wishes to remain anonymous, and we encourage all of our supporters to be nice to a stranger today. Pay it forward!
