Each summer, the Mission welcomes a group of student staff members through the Canada Summer Jobs program. Alyssa: Community Activities Animator
I’m responsible for Community Activities animation! So I plan activities for our members to participate in.
What’s your hometown? Vancouver BC!
What/where are you studying? Psychology and Sociology at McGill
Where’s your favourite spot in Montreal? My favourite place to eat is Arepera on Prince-Arthur and Coloniale, amazing Venezuelan food! Otherwise my favourite spot has to be any park in the area, usually Jeanne-Mance.
What’s your favourite thing about the Mission? Why did you want to work here?
I wanted to get involved in more community work. My favourite part about working at the mission is getting to know the members and hear their stories.
Elizabeth: Community Activities Technician
I’m responsible for helping out where I can! With a focus on the technical side of things, like graphic work to let people know what’s happening at the mission.
What’s your hometown? Kingston, Ontario.
What/where are you studying? I’m doing a masters of fine arts at Concordia.
Where’s your favourite spot in Montreal?
Jarry pool is good in the summer.
What’s your favourite thing about the Mission? Why were you interested in working here?
I appreciate community driven organizations. The Mission has been in the Mile End for almost 30 years, it’s really a pillar in the neighbourhood.
Dan: Community Development Worker
I’m here to help the Mission run smoothly from picking up supplies and lending a hand in the kitchen, to helping our members interact with government agencies.
What’s your hometown? Brandon, Manitoba
What/where are you studying? Urban Planning at Concordia
What’s your favourite spot in Montreal?
I like wandering among the old expo pavilions, and cycling on the race track at Parc Jean-Drapeau.
Why were you interested in working at the Mission?
I like working here because I think it’s really important to make sure that everyone has access to a healthy meal!
Erin: Community Development Coordinator
Hi! In my role, I assist with event-planning, communications, and fundraising to help raise the profile of the Mission and support its activities in the community.

What/where are you studying? Law at Osgoode Hall (York University)
What’s your favourite spot in Montreal? Parc Jeanne-Mance on a sunny day. 🙂
What’s your favourite thing about working at the Mission?
The free, weekly legal clinic on Wednesday evenings, as well as helping to meet the needs of local community members!
