Sunday July 15th, the mission hosted a special viewing of the world cup final between France and Croatia. All throughout this past month, members of the community were welcome during our opening hours to come down and watch their favourite teams go for glory on our big screen TV. Although the mission is usually closed on Sundays, we made an exception this time to make sure that fans could come and see the big game with friends and snacks on such a warm and humid day. The mission is one of the few places in the Mile End where people can come together to see the world cup with friends in dignity without having to pay for food or drinks to avoid being asked to leave. While we were all treated to a thrilling game, fans of Croatia were left a little disappointed as France claimed their second world championship.
